German Cockroaches

Have you Come out to the kitchen in the middle of the night to find cockroaches scurrying across your benches?

Generally, cockroaches hide during the day unless you have a large infestation, in crack and crevices. German cockroaches are generally found in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms and can multiply quickly – They lay an egg sack of up to 40 babies at a time. You can identify them by their light brown or tan colouration, with two black stripes located immediately behind their head, adults grow to 13-16 mm and very rarely fly, they prefer to run. You may also notice cockroach dropping (looks a bit like pepper) on tops of doors, around small cracks and openings into walls or in the corners of a room.

German cockroaches have a 4-6 week lifecycle and if you have a larger infestation you may need a follow up treatment, at 3-4 weeks to ensure the cycle is broken, the technician will advise you after his initial inspection.

Preparation hints:

  • Clean up internally, especially under the fridge, dishwasher and microwave.
  • Limit any clutter and get rid of any spare boxes, plastic bags or cardboard that could become a harbourage.
  • Don’t leave food plates or scraps out over night
  • Keep food in sealed containers
  • Move garage bins away from the home
  • Ensure pet food is not kept out
